Congratulations! Professor Ming-An Chung of the Department of Electronics has guided students Songyun Zhai, Bo-En Chen, Jia-Chun Xu, and Kai-Xiang Chen to win the "2021 I am Maker - Innovation and Creativity Competition" Excellence Award!
Professor Ming-An Chung of the Department of Electronics at our university has guided five undergraduate students in their third year, Songyun Zhai, Jia-Chun Xu, Bo-En Chen, Kai-Xiang Chen, and Zikui You, to develop the "SmartWalk Smart Guide" device. Recently, they participated in the "2021 I am Maker - Innovation and Creativity Competition" organized by the Labor Department's Northern Branch, and stood out among 139 teams and 515 participants to win the "Excellence Award".
With the expectation of "helping blind people supplement their electronic eyes," the "SmartWalk Smart Guide" incorporates environmental sensing technology to proactively detect environmental obstacles for visually impaired people, construct environmental maps, and enable the device to be used in various scenarios such as obstacle avoidance, navigation, item finding, and public transportation embarkation and disembarkation prompts. This helps visually impaired people integrate into society and creates a truly barrier-free living environment.
In response to the trend of an aging population in society, our university leverages its advantages in industry-academia cooperation, actively promotes the industry and academia's focus on precision medicine, long-term care, and other fields, and promotes related application development and industry-academia cooperation opportunities. We cultivate students to hold innovative and creative spirits and multidimensional product architecture thinking to conduct research and physical application development, and fulfill the university's social responsibility.
Professor Ming-An Chung of our university is committed to cultivating students' R&D capabilities and architectural thinking, guiding students to discover market needs and conduct practical research. This not only establishes a good teacher-student learning relationship, but also breaks through the traditional thinking framework, leads students to learn and grow, and inspires students' enthusiasm for learning. It also builds students' team cooperation awareness and innovative entrepreneurial spirit, shapes their good character, stimulates their potential, and cultivates innovative talents in the new generation of medical electronics and intelligent care, creating a friendly smart care environment in Taiwan and jointly shaping the blueprint for the development of smart health care in Taiwan.
