Professor Chung Ming-An of the Department of Electronics at our university supervised three undergraduate students, including Chen Po-En, to participate in the 2021 First National Technical and Vocational Skills Competition for Innovative and Creative Project Production. They submitted a project titled "Wearable Bracelet for Monitoring Heart Rate Physiological Signals Used to Control Smart Home Lighting" and were awarded the "Honorable Mention" award.

This project is a wearable device used to measure physiological signals during the alternating activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems during sleep. These signals can be used to determine the user's physiological state and converted into usable control commands. Based on the information obtained, the system can determine whether the user has entered deep or light sleep and control the color of the lighting accordingly. The lighting control mode has four options: white light, morning light, soft light, and night light, corresponding to four time periods: waking up, bedtime, deep sleep, and low frequency mode. The physiological signals that change according to the user's physiological state, mimicking the spectrum of sunlight, are converted into usable control commands, guiding the changes in the light, and helping users relax and sleep better.

Professor Chung Ming-An of our university actively guides undergraduate students to develop design and development skills, and helps them find directions between business and academia, and unleash their talents to participate in various national competitions. He guides students to improve their observation skills in sensing application design and break through traditional thinking frameworks, thereby cultivating teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit.
